I'm still thinking the idea of mummy is not to make them everlasting, but just to slow down the rooting process

It's too bad the comments associated with these pics were not included, i'm sure it's a very facinating read. What are the arrows in Pic #4 indicating? Who were the couple holding each other? Why does the one mummy seem to be screaming with it's hands up towards it's face? Were these from Pompeii?

@ I want my Mummy

Pompeii didn't create any mummies, all human remains from Pompeii decayed thousands of years ago. The eruption was so sudden and forceful that it sent tons of volcanic ash pouring upon the citizens of the town, killing them very quickly (if not instantly), and solidifying around them. When the remains did decay, they left air pockets in the now completely rock volcanic debris. The archeologists who restored Pompeii filled these pockets with plaster, giving us our "Pompeii mummies." While the numerous artifacts from Pompeii are very well preserved, all we have left of the people who lived there, beyond their plaster molds, are their skeletons.

I would guess that mummy only appears that it is screaming because the decaying process has gotten to the ligaments that were holding its jaw closed.
