Most people's personal space is about 3 feet all around them. If a stranger gets any closer the person become a bit uncomfortable. I watched a TV Documentary that interviewed the worst, hardened criminals including murderers. One guy had a personal space of 22 feet all around him. If you get any closer to him than that and he gets very tense. If you get closer than that, say 15 feet, and he's on the verge of attacking. He can barely control himself at that point.
