There is an interesting tradition in the Russian city of Suzdal.
Every year people gather to watch a goose fighting.
Two geese families stay in the circle and only two of them fight each other.
It's not violent and the birds usually don't get hurt.

ok so they do not die but the stress level not only for the birds that fight but for the family members that have to watch it. I would consider this abuse.
