#1 - totally wrong. Just the last 15 years of science contradicts the poster's claim. HIIT gives results that are as good as or better than steady aerobic training, in 1/4 to 1/3 the time! Which is more soul-crushing? 30 minutes of HIIT three times per week, or 2 hours of 75% aerobic activity three times per week?

I think one of the problems we have with the claims about changes to metabolism is that we're blaming that instead of other factors. For example, building muscle doesn't boost your metabolism, but it does make it easier to exercise therefore allowing you to do more with less discomfort.

Another is the myth of metabolism slowing with age. The simple fact is that as we get older, we move around less and thus burn fewer calories! When we were kids, not only were we constantly on the go, but we did little things like drumming on the desk, tapping our feet in boredom, and all those other tiny little things. Each one burns just a fraction of a calorie, but they add up over the days and weeks.

As far as the others, they all seem pretty accurate.
