Actually, I'd suspect that this particular Polar Bear has a disease rather than anything else. That's an extreme level of malnutrition.

it almost looks to be injured? around the mouth/face... that would make it hard to eat - hence the starving to death

propaganda, bears have always died of starvation some time or another. even before any one could pronounce global warming.

Same with Lions, Leopards, etc over here. Either too old, or injured and weak to hunt for themselves and die of hunger.
