A team of European scientists have created the Autonomous Multi-Robot System for Vehicle Extraction and Transportation (AVERT) which can lift vehciles up to two tons. The invention is intended to be used by police so that they can move vehicles containing explosives in a safe manner.

With wheels that small it may run into issues when theres small stones on the road (which is rather common).

Also, my guess is they are engineers, not scientists.
