This father and son team from Manila, Philippines have a very sad way of making money. Each day they take their makeshift styrofoam boat and paddle through a river of garbage. they try to salvage what they can and sell it but on average they only make about $3 dollars a day.

wow, manila looks like a classy place! why isn't this place a more popular spring break location? If you can get by on three bills a day that leaves a lot of coin for booze!

Just for a good comparison, the minimum wage for the Philippines is $1 per day in the non-plantation agricultural sector for the countryside. When working in the national capital, the minimum wage increases to about $2 per day. Unfortunately, when these minimum wages per day are quote for the non-agricultural sector, the agriculture wages are probably much lower and calculated based on the crop
