48-year-old Dave Aspinall was recently the victim of an e-cigarette explosion. He was hit with some shrapnel and his apartment almost burned down after his e-cigarette overheated and exploded. The doctor compared the injury to a gunshot wound.

Dont know the full story but in all likelihood he was using the wrong charger which caused this to happen.

What a dumb ass. If he were wrapping his coils within the limits of his battery and using an ohm meter to check those levels, this wouldn't have happened. There's no reason for something like this to happen unless you're up for a Darwin award.

E-cigarettes are fine. This guy from all reports was using a mechanical mod. He didn't have enough knowledge of battery safety. He paid the price.
