dude - how about an image you created out of your mind versus using tracing... doh! - nice stroke work, but real creativity demands something more concrete...

This style of drawing is pretty lame. It takes absolutely no thought or originality to copy verbatim someone else's photograph. If someone copied the Mona Lisa, I doubt anyone in the art world would consider the copy of it as art. In fact, it would be considered more of an insult to the original artist.

I'd sooner give props to the photographers this guy is basically ripping off.

Personally I'm not a fan of the whole super realistic style, why not just take a photograph (since you're already working from one) ? Obviously there's a great deal of technical skill involved but In my opinion there's also a serious lack of creativity. There's nothing terribly compelling or thought provoking about celebrity portraits and horse pictures.
A good example of someone who had a fairly realistic style and worked from photographs but pushed it further then that is Norman Rockwell. At least he took his own photos.

I can draw super real pictures including people. These are ripped off from photos and filtered in photoshop.

I hate how there's always one person on art blogs that has to accuse the art of being photoshopped. In my opinion, maybe they didn't conjure the image up in their head but it's still crazy good. I'd like to see anyone else draw that well.

totally photoshopped! you can easily tell the ones that are pencil and ones that are just black and white pictures! Daniel Craig? come on.. if anyone believes someone did that with a pencil you are an idiot!!

What do you mean ''no creativity''? Did anyone see that picture of the hand with the heart-shaped bottle?
And yeah he did some celebrity portraits, but he did them WELL. Can anyone commenting do that?

The impression I get from these is that this person draws purely for masturbatory reasons. These are boring. They're probably not photo shopped, but I honestly think they are a waste of time and energy as they don't have even a hint of original thought. The fact that this person can accurately copy a photograph in pencil isn't enough to save these from being completely ludicrous. Poopoo.

Amazing, who cares that he drew them from photographs, drawing takes patience and skill and this person obviously has both. Other drawings come from things we have seen too, even if you think they are "original" just because you didn't see the images together on paper before! 82 haha

LaGolosa69,
But you have to keep in a mind that a photograph has already flattened a 3-d image into two dimensions. Everything is already simplified for you. Drawing from life is a completely different process. These drawings are technically good, they just don't appeal to me. : / I would rather have seen drawings from this person that aren't from photos.

Photoshop - or some form of trickery - My Opa is extremely talented artist - and in his life he has never seen anything as realistic as these images. Expect for some art work done back in the 16th and 17th century using a process similar to a pin hole camera but on a much larger scale. Usually a small room that is totally dark expect for a small pin hole which would allow an image to be project onto a canvas. Upside down, these artist were still extremely talented. the BBC ran a documentary on the subject. Still this art work is amazing and can not be denied that art some level a great deal of skill was used. Either using some software program or method. Please watch the BBC documentary or google pinhole artwork to get a better idea on how it is achieved. Still very beautiful and talented.

Painstakingly reproducing a photo using pencil and paper is not art. It's a technical skill, but not art. You could program a robot to do that. To make it art the artist has to do something to make the image their own. Put emotion into it, invoke the feelings that a simple photograph can't capture. That's true art. A few of the pictures here have done that, but most have not. They're just perfect copies, photographs printed with graphite.
