Israeli Riot control uses shrapnel ammo.......

In most other countries they use a shield and baton, shows you how much the Israelis value another a life (or many).

Actually theyve been showing that quite openly for a good week or so now (watch the news, its happening right now).

being that my background is in ballistics and terminal velocity, I take great issue with most of what was posted here. cool pictures, yes, accurate info no. Take the last note. One, Israel doesn't use a "shrapnel shell" in any regular issue. They may have developed the round or made it, may have tested it even, but it is not used in any type of regular service, as in "riot control". and it wouldn't go off "like a land mine" more like a short range, low power, shotgun round. Beat Israel up if you must, but get your facts straight.

Phynix4,
In general, when the word 'riot' is used, it is not part of regular service gear.

And shotgun wounds would probably be similar to a land mine wound. (just over a much smaller area.

PS: Where do you get your facts for what Israeli Riot police equipment is? Im sure they wouldnt advertise online, so unless youre in the Israeli police, or been involved in a riot in Israel, I think youre 'educated' guess is worse than whoever put the research into making this post.

22 years military, Yes, I have worked with Israeli army many times among other (its what we do). I have also worked riot control in the middle east and the USA. You cannot even imagine what my educated guess is because you have no background where as I do. Because there isn't "special issue" for riot or crowd control (if there was, it would be very well known), and given that, anyone using "shrapnel rounds" would draw world attention for crimes against humanity (even in a time of war). My point is, most of the items listed were experimental rounds, not issued or mass produced. Think about it; if you used a .40 caliber handgun (or 9mm maybe) with the "shrapnel round" with steel balls in a polymer cap, depending upon the grain of your propellant, traveling down a grooved barrel, you would have a barrel blow up in your face, or the receiver blow back into your face. Again, background.
