This 12 year old girl found this tree branch with live bullets lodged into it. The branch was set to be lit on fire the next day as part of a bonfire but luckily this girl caught it in time.

That's retarded. Ammo lodged in a tree like that isn't dangerous. The bullet needs to be shot through a proper fitting barrel.

No she didn't.

It would have made noise (maybe causing a heart attack) and been dangerous to people standing inside the fire next to it if it had broke the skin.

I disagree, #4. Those are 50 caliber bullets and would have done damage.

No they wouldn't have. A projectile needs a build up of pressure behind. They would have been loud but harmless from a distance of 1 foot. Seriously, see for yourself, https://www.youtube.com/watch?

v=Dd_7DOE_CdY. Notice any pings? Nope just some pops.

Granted a 50 cal. round might be quite a bit louder.

#4 ... you would be right if the bullets were not inside the tree and bullet and casing would separate equally.
But since the casing is fixed to the tree and it has a high mass, it would actually make the bullets fly out.

they are not .50 cal., they are 7.62 rifle rounds that are embedded to heat up and go off in the fire, potentially VERY dangerous. see how the limb was chosen? just the right width to leave the primer exposed to 'cook off' the round....

I can tell you now.. no one was ever going to put that anywhere near a fire. But by the look of the dads face, it was probably him and she caught him out

They might leave a mark, but they probably would not break the skin.
