This rat was found stuck on the Upper West Side. 82nd Street between CPW and Columbus.
It was called "possibly the saddest thing ever"
And the fun began.

Found this on another after a google search
Update from "Wayne" who took the picture:
It was on my block on the Upper West Side. 82nd Street between CPW and Columbus. I thought it was alive, but after getting up the nerve to poke it with a (long) stick, I realized he was dead. I did what any wonderful caring masculine New Yorker would do, I told the doorman about it and ran off to work. That night the sidewalk with spic and span. I hear the Eulogy was beautiful and moved some to tears.

Yeah, poor mouse. Nobody had pity and tried to get him loose, apparently. I'm sure he died of stress, thirst, internal injuries, or getting eaten. It's heinous to make fun of an animal in pain. Now a human in the same situation - that's funny!
