:51: i use to think they did this to join the yakuza and cut 2nd part of their pinky if they are ranked higher...but maybe they did it for leaving yakuza or if they displeased their boss....either way japan is one the safest countries in world

I thought it was because the pinkie finger was needed to properly wield a sword. therfore if they did something wrong / displeased. they had to cut off thier little finger. Which then meant they would not beable to properly wield a sword.
