it's cheaper and safer to haul them this way
don't have to pay the crew, fuel, insurance, food, etc. of your individual yacht
everyone shares in the expense

That must be the worst, most useless thing ever! After spending thousands of dollars on a boat/ship, not even bothering to sail it! My equivalent would be putting my car on the back of a truck to go to the shops (But i'm not uber rich)

That's exactly what I do with my yacht. I ship it all around the world and I never get to sail in it....well, that's what I wouldn't do if I had one anyway...
