Namie is a small town in Japan that was abandoned after tsunami and Fukushima nuclear plant fail in 2011. At the invitation of local officials, Google recently deployed its camera-equipped vehicles to Namie to create a street view map of the deserted town so residents can see their abandoned homes, and the world can witness the remains of the disaster.

The area would have been partly cleared in the early days to enable the recovery of items and bodies from around the town, hence the line of broken farm equipment in pic13. As much will have been salvaged as possible to aid in rebuilding.

It still looks like some activity, as you can see a camper van parked outside the building in pic8, as belongings in the upper levels may have escaped the worst effects of the waves.

For all the devastation, and the cost to the living, even the dead weren't spared eternal rest, as in pic25
