Ghana is an African country and people in Ghana love movies. In the 1980s most of the population couldn't afford to own a VHS recorder. That's when someone came with an idea of the "mobile cinemas". Mobile cinema operators traveled around the country, from village to village, creating temporary cinemas. To attract people they hanged very cool self-made movie posters on the cinema buildings. And today I want to show you these posters. They are awesome. Carefully, can be NSFW

Since you can get a better collection of movies in a ghanaian market than in any DVD-store in western europe, ghanaians know something about movies. But, the ghanaian Movie-Industry produces far beyond horror - it produces reality, because that is what is expected from them. Movies are very real to them, mostly the Ghana-movies about cannibalism, evil spirits, the devil, demons, witches and the like. Any Horror movie from Ghana is no horror movie - it is a documentary to the people there, maybe educational, maybe exaggerated, but very real in its core. And then small children watch mothers who morph into hyenas to devour children in the night.
