I can't even look at it...I don't understand how can somebody do it to a child.. and it makes me really sad that there are even worse things going on around the world and we don't even know about it..

those kids arent old enough to CHOSE to do that..They were FORCED into such things..

As a parent there is nothing more disturbing than seeing an adult sat on a child, bending joints the wrong way, or over extending them at the very least.

The kids don't have a choice, full stop! It's all for the national pride, and the parents probably never see this side of the training. Don't forget though, there are so many people in China that any country that complained could be taken over in a matter of days.

Sport should be a hobby, not torture. I think national pride should not have that much weight on the Olympics. After all, they're the games of peace.

It seems brutal to us but, honestly, we Westerners tend to be spoiled. Take a trip to Africa and see how ridiculous it is that life ever stresses you out at all. Everything we complain about is a joke compared to things like having to walk miles for semi-clean water that you then have to carry back to your village in a mended plastic tub with twine handles, or having one rice and sauce meal a day if you're lucky, or slowly dying from a curable disease. You could take a bunch of pictures of American kids screaming in toy stores and string them together into a gallery, and someone even more exceptionally spoiled than the average Westerner might look at them and conclude that the kids in the pictures are being psychologically tortured by their parents. Like it or not, our thresholds for discomfort just keep getting lower and lower while those of people in many other countries stay the same. We are soft. I won't be surprised when 20 years from now I see a public service announcement claiming that "No child deserves to be uncomfortable."

let's see the other side of this, what is the injury rate of going trough this routine? how many have to drop out due to injuries? are they well taken care of?... years ago 60 minutes news program showed that those kids leave home and live at the training facilities. Very hard on the families, they still do that?
