Do you guys understand the whole meaning of this comparison ? Fast foods vs raw food. Eat things that healthy for you, not to kill you.

First, the prices on Wal-Mart food are low for a reason....just because you cook it yourself doesn't mean its "healthy". Those are STILL loaded with fats, salt, and additives, plus 'fillers' which makes them cheap. Many of the Wal-Mart foods come from the bottom-of-the-barrel suppliers, lowest bid, etc. which can make you wonder what corners they're cutting and where....?

Second, this disregards the value of time or opportunity cost.
For example the KFC one, I can walk into KFC and buy that food for $20.
For the others, I have to
a) drive to the store (we'll consider that to be the same time as me driving to KFC, so a wash)
b) shop (that's going to be at least a half hour, assuming you don't have a list of specifically what you need, in which case you took the time to make out the list)
c) cook (considering all prep time, probably 45 mins to an hour)
d) clean up - another 15 mins (or more cost if you buy paper plates, etc.)

So all told, the KFC cost me no time, $20.
The other food cost me $20, plus 1:45. At a reasonable salary rate value of time, say $20/hour, that's another +$35 or $55 for my "$20" meal.

Sorry, I'm not saying anyone should eat fast food. Not a big fan of it myself. But there's a reason they're successful, and that's mainly because people are pressed for time.

No wonder americans are fat. Here in Norway, a normal meal on McD/BK is around $17-18. Going all the way to above $20 for the nice meals.

Not only that, but the burgers, fries and drinks are all SMALLER then those in america.

A bag of dried kidney beans, or a side of KFC mashed potatoes that I can eat right away? Yeah, I gotta go with the potatoes on this one. I just can't see sitting around for 12 hours waiting for Walmart beans to rehydrate.

And skurupu, sounds like they're really screwing you guys. 03
