I think a few of you might be puking on your keyboards if you knew what some of those items actually did. The plaque near the bottom showing 'Freedom or death' about sums them up, except freedom rarely came.

Those tortured weren't expected to live, just to confess. Some of the clamps would have given such pain that death was preferable to the tortured and confessing to anything might make it stop.
