No other species alive is capable of doing this. Sad that ours (the masters of the planet) have to destroy one another.

The US has the dubious distinction of being the only nation to use an atomic weapon on civilians. This should be considered the greatest act of terrorism in human history.

100,000 people may have died in one day. The death toll does not consider survivors who died later of radiation poisoning and future generations of cancer victims.

Total deaths are closer to 220,000 - 250,000 if you include collateral effect. At least 400,000 people died as a result of detonating atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

astro - Payback is a bitch now that Toyota is the biggest car maker in the world. Honda, Nissan, and Mazda aren't doing too bad either, or Sony... All formed after WW2 with Yakuza money. They just brought the battle field to money markets - War is just about money anyway, isn't it?

mahedi,
Hey if they never did it You would either be speaking German or Japanese. Also a LOT more people would have died had they gone the invasion route. Think of the bombs that would have rained down for months on cities and villages all over Japan. This was the best way forward. For the Yanks and the Japanese. Believe it or not.

27 Proud no, but payback IS a bitch. When I was stationed in Hawaii, it would make me sick to see Japanese standing over the Arizona taking pictures smiling.

Jimmy Johnson....I remember seeing something about that Japanese master plan. I was a three prong approach (if i remember correctly). Stage one..War and conquer.Another stage was economic victory (seems that worked). There was another stage that I just can't recall. However I repectfully disagree about the act of terrorism.Great post...never forget so it may never happen again..
