I like 'em all 'cept where it says "Federal Reserve Note", as there is no real "Federal" reserve! What we call the "Federal Reserve" is in actuality a group of privately owned banks! Don't let the word federal fool you.

Except they're all still paper money, with no real value...

What value separates a 100 dollar note, from a 1 dollar note? Two zeroes?
This only perpetuates the debt of this nation, and deteriorates the value of a true dollar when we simply print more.

What ever the design is, the tag line: one nation of many people is good. I think that it would be good to have natural formations forests, beaches, lakes and so on rather than bridges buildings and other man made structures. Certainly avoid presidents. It is bad that there are no women, so better not to emphasise this bias.
Certainly no George Bush... not just the most unpopular US president, the most unpopular world wide. 33

for your information, not one line in the constitution mentions separation of church and state. there is a letter that thomas jefferson wrote (to benjamin franklin possibly?) that says in would be in both the religions' and the government's best interest to keep a separation of church and state. It was ignored in the beginning and state taxes were implemented that required payments to that state's church, they were relaxed to payments to the church of one's choice. this process gradually continued until there was separation of church and state in laws and procedures in government. this is the way it has been and the way it will be, according to the nation we are raising today for tomorrow. i am not against separation of church and state i think it is in both parties' best interests, but do not use it as a defense as if our country was founded on those principles. America was founded to be one nation, under God.

RIP u.s. of a.

these are more like check designs than money.

Zedge,
acutally you can tell the forefathers who created our country to stuff their religion wherever since they're the ones who gave us the ability to be americans. just saying if they weren't who they were with their religion we'd still all be in our 'homelands'

canada IS America jr. or America's hat. whichever you prefer

mexi_kahn_elliefannt,
and to all of you religious people who think that our country was founded "one nation, under God" you are wrong. the "under God" part of the pledge of allegiance was added about 30 years after the pledge was written. so thats not how our nation was founded. just to clear things up.

if any of the bush family is ever on my money, ill move to germany

I agree... Bush on any money and I am out of here.

I really like the ones with the constitutional amendments on the back. I think that too many citizens don't know their rights or misinterpret their rights because they've not seen them verbatim since grade school (if at all).

Although most of these designs look fantastic, they also look very expensive to produce (except the bar code stickers). The last thing we need, at least at this point in time, is to make money more expensive to produce. Give it about ten years or so when we're not under Republican rule (I doubt they'd take off "IN GOD WE TRUST" off of notes) and bring it up again.

IN GOD WE TRUST can be used for any religion, and it sounds much better than In nothing we trust. I'd prefer One Nation OF Many People instead of From.

But in other news, the comments here just show you the true intelligence of people, not really wanting to give anything helpful, just hate on everyone else and their thoughts.

And then again, in other news, some of these are great, but the barcode one would be horrible, just due to how easy it would be to counterfeit these types of bills.

Also, before you levy a comment against me, or directed at me, please note, I will not be back to check this comment, and as such, I won't care.

I really like the 3rd set; and also the I.O.U ones!

I've always wanted more colorful bills! Everyone else around the world has such aesthetically pleasing money. Our bills are all the same. The first and second sets are nice.

Most of the seriously-designed ones are ok - why should we keep the same shitty-looking bills we've had for ages? I particularly like the ones with the Amendments on them. Keep a $10 bill on you in case you get pulled over!

seperation of church and state is either in the constitution, or it's a law. go fuck yourself if you say otherwise. also bush is a piece of republican shit. joe the plummer was a puppet for mccain. lol republicans = biased towards religion. either way its a catch 22. whatever, fucked either way. hope the currency doesnt change, i like it the way it is.

Don't Euro-fy the dollar please. I like them how they are now, hippies.

Either way America is a diverse culture so STFU

Llynok,

As opposed to the invisible money we use whenever we swipe plastic? We use fiat money, it has no inherent value just that which the people give it. Whether it is paper or plastic, it's still intrinsically worthless.

mexi_kahn_elliefannt,

That last bit about how the United States was founded as One Nation, under God is untrue. The majority of the founding fathers were deists, not Christians. Also, in the Treaty of Tripoli, Thomas Jefferson himself said that the United States is in no way founded upon the Christian religion. As stated before me, "One Nation, under God" was added to the pledge in 1952 (there about), and before around that time In God We Trust was not on the money, simply E Pluribus Unum. It's a modern conception that the US is a Christian nation, not a historical truth.

lol_die,

Not sure what happened, but the second half of this comment, after the quote, is mine. How puzzling.

Damn, and here I was expecting to see a one dollar bill sporting a duotone image of a sweaty hard working Mexican illegal immigrant , followed by a 5 dollar bill crammed with 6 yr old asian Nike workers and a 100 dollar bill enriched with the apotheosis of a guided "smart" bomb blowing up defenseless Iraqi sheep herders armed with WWII M1 Garand rifles. There's not even an orange hued Gitmo toture theme for the $50 bill !!!! Whats the point of being evil if you can't display a healthy, joyous, cynicism about it? Sing, dance and bathe in the blood of the world or just fuck off for chrissake!!!!! XOXOXOXOX Big kiss

I'm a practicing Christian and I like the whole "One Mation from Many people" thing instead of "In God We Trust". I have my reasons for that but it's too much to explain here. however, I think it should be the other way around- "Many People, One Nation". Sounds stronger to me.

que? I think my comment about "Many People, One Nation" got added onto someone else's....

Yeah, keep the word GOD off the damn money.

I love the WPA-style designs! We should definitely switch to those! I'd much rather have Barbie on my money than Bush

Interesting, just stumbled and found! :)

Llynok,

its called fungibility.
it means that one dollar is just as much as another one dollar bill.
For example, say our currency was apples. apples arent fungible because one apple might be better than another. But with a dollar bill, you can have a very worn old bill and its worth just as much as a new one.

Llynok,
Well, all US money printed used to represent a gold reserve, but eventually the gold wasn't worth enough for all the money that has been printed. Besides, all of the other countries use paper money. It's not the paper money that's the problem, it's the credit cards.

So, uh, just for the record, on the separation of church and state bit... First amendment to the constitution... mmkay? Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists just put a name to it.

Now go die, stupid people.

The government really shouldn't waste time and resources just to redesign paper money. Making it harder to forge is one thing, but that certainly won't stop crafty cheaters from trying. It's still going to do the same thing and be valued the same way no matter if it looks like, though.

Electronic currency will win out in the long run, anyway. Debit/credit cards and online transactions are just baby steps. No point making new bills when people are using bills less and less. The "Uncle Sam Sez" bills are the best design, not just because they're clever and funny, but because all the others just look like an existing foreign currency design and/or backgrounds for checks. Except the bar code stickers, which is just a stupid idea.

As for the "In God We Trust" debate, both sides shut up, please. For most Americans, the dollar itself is their god anyway. It's no victory for any deity to be associated with American avarice. They could stamp Christ, Muhammad, Buddha, and other religious symbols on money for all I care, so long as I can buy booze and hookers with 'em.

mexi_kahn_elliefannt,

hahahahahahaha. you're DUMB.

america was not founded to be one nation, under god!
you just ripped that line from the pledge of allegiance and GUESS WHAT, DUMBASS?
it wasn't even ADDED to the pledge until 1954, because the wee little americans were afraid of the godless communists.

everybody as the right to their own religion, which is why church/state legislation is NOT in everybody's best interest. look at the middle east! we bitch and bitch and bitch about them and how they treat each other and the laws they have, even going as far as to declare war on them and implement new leaders and systems. yeah, i'd prefer not to have religion controlling my life. i do my own thing.

Ummmm....

Superman was a 100% CANADIAN comic! Stop saying he's American.

This is like the light bulb debate all over again. Your history books say it was invented by an American, but your OWN PATENT OFFICE says it was invented by a guy in Toronto.

Ignorant Americans don't know their own history.

You probably think basketball is an American sport too, don't you?

My opinion is... drop the dollar... adopt the euro...

Interesting Ideas. Just wondering if any of the designers thought about counterfeiting when designing their bills? The US gos to extreme measures in designing counterfeit proof bills.

I actually like the ones with the constitutional amendments on them, the rest look like screen savers. But I do think that "federal reserve note" should be taken off....and fuck "in god we trust" it says in the first amendment, "no law shall be made respecting an establishment of religion." I'm surprised it's gotten so far really.

WTF???,
And to your basketball comment yes it was invented by a Canadian man but he had to come to the USA to be inspired to invent it. Maybe you should learn your history before you knock ours....guess Canada should just go back to being Americas hat and be happy they aren't Mexico!
