Aftermath of devastating 9.0 megathrust earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on 11 March 2011. There have been 1353 officially confirmed deaths and 1085 people officially reported missing, but estimated numbers are far higher. Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan called it the toughest crisis since World War II.

I make a lot of fun of the Japanese, but they are a wonderful people....my heart goes out to them.

I suspect they will recover a bit faster than the U.S has after Katrina....and yes I'm rather embarrassed by that.


I'm bracing myself for the next *Big One* up here in Alaska, we get a lot of trimmers, but rarely anything over 3.5., however, the second biggest recorded earthquake ever centered just a few hundred miles from were I live. 02
