It happened last January in a small European country Montenegro. 11-year-old female hippo Nikica escaped from the private zoo she used to live in for the past nine years. It was an accidental escape that happened during a flood. The hippo who lived in the backyard swam over the fence into the streets of the town. 9 days later Nikica came back home.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to eat Hippos, I mean a flank steak must be gi-normous. I'm not trying to be funny, but certainly someone must have tasted it.

We had a hippo here, called Huberta, who went on a 3 Year ramble and traveled 1600 kilometers before being shot by hunters. They were fined R25 each (4 USD) because she was proclaimed Royal Game by the authorities.
The body of the hippo who walked into the hearts of countless South Africans today occupies pride of place in the King William's Town museum.
