Alcohol and cigarettes, are by far the worst kinds of "drug". They are legal and therefore deemed socially acceptable. Drunk driving accidents and lung, mouth, throat cancer victims dwarf any problem illicit drugs have caused.

Alcohol and cigarettes are more widely abused by a greater cross-section of the population than cocaine, mariguana, and other illicit drugs. Add the mix of legal prescription drugs, and the problem is infinitely greater.

The only reason why cocaine and mariguana are illegal is because governments do not benefit from it's consumption through taxation.

Caffeine is not addictive in the sense of alcoholism or nicotine dependence. I would consider it no more lethal than refined sugar. Plenty of people have died from ingesting legal drugs, but I don't believe too many people have died from a caffeine overdose.

Jimmy Johnson,
You're right there, but believe it or not, it is possible for one to die from caffeine overdose, while it is medically impossible to die from marijuana overdose. Which brings us to your earlier point that most drugs are illegal simply because the government can not apply taxes...

I agree with the others, this is not a good 'fact sheet' at a minimum it should be called "illegal drug abuse in America"

Speaking from the context of legal drugs...

I didn't say people can't die from caffeine overdose - you can die from drinking too much water. Wordwide, fewer than 100 people per year have died from taking exstacy. How many people have died from taking legal drugs in the same period? I'll just put it out there and say hundreds of thousands, if not millions through drunk driving accidents, suicides, misdiagnosis. abuse, cancer and other diseases like birth defects - caused by legal drugs.
