Eradicating racism is only a theoretical idea. It can never be achieved.

You have to be able to see the world through everyone else's eyes and experiences to truly understand them.

Understanding other races and cultures leads to tolerance. Tolerance leads to empathy. Empathy is what causes the motivation to understand other races and cultures.

The process is a closed circle. There will never be enough enlightened humans alive at any given time to effect a globalized change.

astroboy - What? You don't like hearing things that make you think? Why don't you shut the fuck up and learn something.

You can always skip my comment... It's called selective editing, something I'm sure you're an expert at.

Jimmy Johnson,

I believe racism can be eradicated, even though most of the people are not "enlightened", if a common goal (or enemy) is found.

Racism is not a "common enemy". It's not something tangible you can rally people around. Racism is a state of mind. Like free will, people choose for themselves whether or not they will perpetuate or eradicate racism from within.

You can't outlaw a person's opinion or point of view. It can only be more popular or less popular for the selected audience. ie) the muslim mosque being proposed near ground zero, yet a strip club and porn shop within the same distance is acceptable. If you're going to try to suppress ideas that you don't like and start burning books, then enough people thinking the same way will create a fascist state. Freedom of speech (of ideas) is a basic human right, for better or worse.

Sometimes people offend someone without realizing it. But this shouldn't be an excuse. Just imagine what other people will think before you say something like above.
For living in peace together we must respect all human beings.

Since I'm German, people will think I'm a NAZI! WTF? I think this post opened a lot of hidden feelings that are in some ways thereputic. We all read each others witty or rhetorical remarks, mostly in jest, but this really opened up some hostility for some reason. 53
