Awesome photos by Harold Edgerton who made it his life's mission to analyze motion and extend our perception of time.

He also developed a flash for airplanes to use when taking recon pictures at night. It was huge!

You guys gotta realize that, at the time, Harold Eugene Edgerton almost invented that process which is called chronophotography, super slow motion wasn't really something that was existing even in video research laboratories. He engineered the use of stroboscopes into photography to make pictures like the ones we see at the start of the picdump which is a feat that no one really used at the time before the creation of his work.
Eadweard Muybridge, Etienne-Jules Marey, Georges Demen, Ottomar Anschtz, Thomas Eakins, Harold Eugene Edgerton, all used chronophotography for the scientific study of motion. Check those names out if you dig it or are interested in a milestone in modern photography.
