Even after reading about ''tilt shift photography'' for two hours, I STILL do not understand WHY it works. I need to find a site that has ''tilt shift for really really really dumb people'' 'cause that is how I feel right now!

I watched two tilt-shift videos this one time, but it sucked because the people were way too fast. Also, it was on the beach, which not only sucks, but means that there are no trains. The trains are the best part of this post.
Does anyone know how you would reverse the effect to make small things look big? Because microscopes don't really achieve that.
