I think the Twitter note posted here sums up BP to a tee.

Just get the job done. People aren't mocking you without just cause, as BP should have stood up the moment this happenned and gotten their hands dirty then, rather than blaming their contractors and then caving in far too late.

Get in, seal the leak, clean the area AND THEN sort out whose paying with your contractors. This has ended up costing them far more because of their professional vanity than it would have if they had the balls to act from day one.

We can all only hope that the latest efforts bring the leak to an end, and allow the agencies looking after the wildlife and the coastal areas to save what they can.

A sad carry on that has probably damaged BPs image forever.

The spill is bad yes, but to think that BP wanted it? is happy about it? does not want to clean it up and get back to business? is not worried about the condition of the world is in for their children??? C'mon man think about. make your own opinion. Mob mentality is a dangerous and grossly arrogant, ignorant and anti-pragmatic.
I am not siding with BP I am just so sick of the media and others talking so f'n stupid! The media is like that uncle we all have that has a big mouth and says what ever he wants in public and the things he says make you eant to crawl in a corner and hide so no one knows you are related.

Apparently there were six shut off valves that would close up inside the pipe if something like this happened. They said it was impossible for this to happen, let alone any of those six valve things to malfunction... All six malfunctioned.

Not to mention on the night of the Deepwater Horizon explosion, the duty roster showed a staff of 18 when normally there should have been 28. And none on staff were engineers or people that were qualified to potentially stop the explosion.

As well, bp could've installed a final fail safe called a remote acoustic valve they install on off-shore rigs outside of England, but are not required to do so in the US which only costs $500,000. An amount bp makes in pure profit in 8 minutes. Understand... Not gross profits, after every expense is paid. bp makes $93 million in pure profit every day.

bp's capitalized market value is $153 billion and these chumps couldn't afford what would amount to a nickle to the average person to prevent the greatest oil spill in US history.

Think about it

1) Why are relief wells not required?
2) Why are acoustic switches not required?
3) Why were all the warning signs before the explosion ignored?
4) Why were the surviving employees held back from seeing their families until liability waivers signed?
5) Why do Americans expect something different from politicians when lobbyist and special interest can contribute more $ than we can?

Keep an eye on the politicians who offer and make the early votes on any deep water legislation, and the amount of money the oil companies give them!

Nothing will ever happen to BP because they have enough money to shut anybody up, and enough gifts to keep our US inspectors deaf, dumb and blind when it comes to BP violations. Let's get this mess stopped and then let's clean up the mess in office and get some people in who will do the job properly of inspecting and keeping up on the latest violations before a rig blows or a million gals of oil get spilled! 30 <----the U.S.-getting screwed by BP Petroleum
