Trans-Amazonian Highway. Another Very Bad Road (65 pics)

I love the fact the some people try and tackle roads like these in normal 2wd cars. Nutters

It's not really a highway in the truest sense. It's more of a dried riverbed.

What happens is that it's almost impossible to build a road there.
It rains everyday, so they put asphalt on it, the next day is already in a bad condition, cause it doesnt have time to dry........

there is a lot of things that makes almost impossible a road there, but, they can do better.

Asphalt will set in the rain...it hardens as it cools....but that is one big quagmire!

After yesterdays gem of a road you can only hope for better.....

Good job most of those are travelling in convoy to help each other out. One pic there had a unit carrying gas bottles, and it looked like they were lugging the bottles across one section by hand just to get across it. Poor bastards!!

Stop cutting tree everywhere... and you won't have this problem

This area in the pics does not need to be a road, it needs to be a bridge.

if its too wet to construct a correct road there, why not precast the slabs and bring em in?? dumbasses.... maybe dig trenches along the sides for drainage...
