Don't be stupid and naive. It's not only about the amount of money donated. Money can be redirected and misused, and even given to the very government now dropping chemical weapons on these people. What's more important is the attention drawn, so that other forces and influences can be brought to bear, such as military and economic sanctions, political pressure, isolation from other countries and groups, high-interest or outright refusal of loans or aid, and so on.

And not only on Assad, but on his biggest supporter, Russia, whose government is regressing faster than the speed of light back towards a Stalinist-style regime thanks solely to it's despotic author, a testosterone-saturated former KGB thug, The Vlad.
